A place to just be yourself.

The Spicy Brain Collective started because Josselyn kept hearing the same thing from autistic adults in Pittsburgh. They wanted real connection, but most social spaces felt exhausting, loud, or full of unspoken rules they didn't know how to follow.

So she built something different. Monthly gatherings in the East End designed specifically for neurodivergent adults. Sensory friendly, low pressure, and free from the neurotypical social scripts that make so many spaces feel impossible.

No small talk requirement. No eye contact pressure. No pretending you're fine when you're not. Just people with spicy brains, showing up as they are.

What you can expect

  • Monthly in-person events in Pittsburgh's East End

  • Sensory-friendly venues and environments

  • No neurotypical social rules or scripts

  • A mix of structured activities and open socializing

  • A Discord server for between-event connection

  • A community that actually gets it

  • Free to join.

Something for every kind of spicy brain.

Events are designed to give you something to focus on so the socializing doesn't feel like the whole point.

Puzzle Huddle

Low-key puzzle sessions at the Carnegie Library. Something to do with your hands while you connect.

Crafternoon

Crafts, creative projects, and conversation. Structured just enough to make the social part easier.

Speed Friending

Like speed dating, but for making friends. Structured, low-pressure, and surprisingly fun.

Social Mixers

Themed social events at local venues, sensory friendly, casual, and always welcoming new faces.

What it actually feels like.

If you've ever left a social event more drained than when you arrived, this was built for you.

01

Sensory friendly

Venues are chosen with noise levels, lighting, and crowd size in mind. You won't be expected to shout over a bar or sit under fluorescent lights.

03

Activity-anchored

Most events have something to do, puzzles, crafts, games. So socializing doesn't have to be the whole point. The activity gives you something to focus on.

04

New faces always welcome

Every event is open to new members. You don't need to have been before, know anyone, or introduce yourself to the group. Just show up.

02

No performance required

No eye contact pressure. No small talk obligation. No masking. Come as you are. Stims, fidgets, headphones and all.

05

Discord in between

The community doesn't only live at events. There's a Discord server for connecting, chatting, and finding your people between meetups.

06

Always free to join

Membership is free. Most events are free. Some events may have a small cost for materials or venue, that'll always be clear on the event listing.

You don't have to figure this out alone.

Join 827+ neurodivergent adults already showing up, connecting, and building real friendships in Pittsburgh.
